House Republicans, Sunday morning, introduced articles of impeachment against homeland, security, secretary, Alejandro Mayorkas.
Republicans cited “high crimes and misdemeanors” as the charges being levied against the secretary.
Republicans have been satisfied with secretary Mayorkas’s especially with the southern border crisis however, the Biden ministration has come out in defense of the secretary. They’ve also accused him of making false statements regarding the crisis.
The top Democrat on the house, Homeland, security committee Representative, Bennie Thompson, said in a statement ““What is glaringly missing from these articles is any real charge or even a shred of evidence of high crimes or misdemeanors – the Constitutional standard for impeachment. That should come as no surprise because Republicans’ so-called ‘investigation’ of Secretary Mayorkas has been a remarkably fact-free affair,”
The department of Homeland security discredited the articles impeachment, saying it was a “farce” and “distraction from other vital national security priorities.”
